Business Track for Biological Studies Graduate Programs

IIGB Director Natasha Raikhel and Dean David Stewart of the Anderson Graduate School of Management (AGSM) are developing a business component to graduate programs in the biological sciences. The purpose is to better prepare students for entrepreneurial career options related to their scientific education and training, and to improve recruitment possibilities for both programs and for UCR. As a pilot program, six graduate students in the Genetics, Genomics and Bioinformatics (GGB) and Plant Biology (Botany & Plant Sciences) graduate programs will be offered two introductory MBA courses, Marketing and Finance, in the Winter and Spring 2009 quarters. If successful, tailored business classes for science students and a certificate program will be designed.
